This past week was a pretty crazy one! I updated about my doctor appointment on the 23rd, which was eventful but we also had a sick Molly at home. She woke up at 3 am that day with her first stomach bug. Poor little thing was puking . I felt so bad for her. She was pretty miserable. I did take her to the doctor to make sure she had no infection, which she didn't. Fortunately she was feeling better by evening and woke up being her normal crazy, 2 year old self. So we were able to celebrate most of our holiday festivities. We missed dinner with John's side on the 23rd, but saw his mom and uncles at breakfast Christmas morning.
Molly was so excited that Ho Ho came. Her little mouth just dropped when she came to the living room and saw the toys and presents. It was pretty cute. I'll have to try to upload some of the video. After going through presents from Santa and exchanging gifts with John we got dressed and headed over to his mom's, and then down to my mom's for dinner. We had a good time at my mom's. My cousin and his wife and kids were there as well, which was fun. Molly had some playmates, which was nice. She even got to take a bath with one of them! Then we came home and back to the doctor I went on Friday.
The doctor said the baby is moving around fine and everything looks good, but the glucose numbers going down and not needing much insulin is still a concern. I was still contracting everyone 5 minutes or so, but these could continue for a while without actually go into labor. She said at some point they may just decide to induce me since I am 37 weeks today but hopefully will just go into labor on my own soon. I am supposed to continue doing my movement counts and if those go down or aren't as much I need to call. She also said if I end up to the point of needing no insulin at all I need to call because that seems to be when she will make the decision to induce. I told her I was hoping not to induce since I am hoping to not have an epidural. I'm not excited about getting induced, but we'll see what happens. Of course if the doctor is telling me that the baby needs to come out, I will do whatever is necessary..but I wanted her to know what I was at least hoping for. Maybe just stripping the membranes or just a touch of pitocin will get these contractions to become regular. My mom said that's what happened to her. Of course I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that my water breaks and I know it's time.
The contractions are starting to get slightly more uncomfortable, particularly when I am walking around. We went to the mall yesterday and that was fun...I had to stop a few times to breathe through them. They are only that intense every so often when I'm sitting. My hope right now is that these contractions are dilating me, but I hope that they aren't doing so much that I'll eventually have one big contraction that pushes me over the edge and I'm ready to deliver without even realizing it. Oh, and as far as my glucose numbers go I took a tiny bit of insulin today just to keep my numbers in check since we went to a party. I can say that I would have had to take 3 to 4 times as much insulin a few weeks ago to have the same numbers. I'm debating whether or not to take insulin tonight and see what happens.
I have another appointment on Tuesday, and then another on Friday. Tuesday's appointment is with another doctor in the practice, so it should be interesting to see his take on things. I see the doctor from last week again on Friday, if I make it that far. I'll be going crazy if I'm still having contractions this frequently a week from now. Ugh.
Welcome to my blog! I live in CT with my wonderful husband and children. We got married in August 2005. Our first child, Molly, was born on Halloween 2006. Jack was born on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009. I was fortunate to take 15 months off when Molly was born but was back in the professional working world for the past 4+ years. Now I am back at home, and figuring it out.

36 week update
I had my weekly nst this afternoon. Baby is doing fine, moving aroound like crazy! I was having pretty big contractions, about every 5-8 minutes....not all that painful, just tightening. The doctor asked if that was more than normal, but its hard to say since they don't hurt alot so I don't always notice them. But I wasn't in a ton of pain during labor until I got to about 7 cms.
The bigger concern is that my glucose numbers have been lower and I don't seem to need insulin for meals if I eat low carb. Before I needed insulin even when I was eating low carb. So the concern is that something is going on with the placenta, and/or getting ready to deliver. Since I am already 36 weeks it seems that it is ok if I go into labor, but she said it is too early to induce unless the baby seems stressed. She ended up doing an internal since I'm contracting and I am about 1 cm and she could feel the babies head. He wiggled when she did, which she said was good.
I have to do formal movement checks, 10 an hour 3x a day. And I go for another NST on Friday, then another on Tuesday.
So we'll see what happens! Still having contractions, I feel the tightening but pretty much the same. I'll let you know if anything changes!

35 week ultrasound
I had a growth check again today, yay!!! So much more exciting than the nsts. At least I get to see the little guy. And I got a 3D photo! Even more exciting. So tell me what you think?
I also had a chance to upload photos from the weekend. We visited with Santa at John's office. Molly was a little shy at first, but after a donut and realizing Santa would give her another toy if she went up to see him, she walked right up. No sitting on his lap, but she chatted with him for a few minutes. Definitely making progress! She is getting exciting for Christmas. Every day we move the Snowflake in our calendar to count down the days, and she knows in 9 days Ho HO comes! Yay!!!! She told me yesterday she wanted something pink....I think we've got that covered..I hope.

Only 5 more weeks!
Yay!!! Coming into the final stretch and getting excited. It is nice to have Christmas and the baby to look forward to. Just about ready for Christmas, I'd say I'm about 90% done with my shopping. Need to pick up a few more odds and ends, but overall doing great. Amazon.com has been my best friend this year.
Other exciting news is that Candace had her baby yesterday! A little boy, Dominic Patrick. So exciting :). So many babies this fall and winter. I can't believe I am next!
Not a whole lot to say here, just wanted to do a quick update. Overall I'm feeling good. My hips are starting to hurt quite a bit at night when I sleep. I remember them being like this last time, doesn't really make me look forward to sleeping. Amy has assured me that the aches and pains go away relatively quickly though, which will be nice. I seemed to remember feeling better shortly after having Molly, but it's so hard to remember. Trying not to get nervous on what this baby is going to do in the sleeping and eating categories, just going to go with the flow and hope for the best.
So that's it from here....and a few photos of our very much a 2 year old.

Getting ready for Turkey Day
Things are coming together here for Turkey Day. We have a crowd of 23 coming, at least that's how many I think are coming. Hopefully I didn't count wrong. Finally took the china out of the boxes after 3+ years...not enough for 23 but I don't think we'll ever have 23 place settings so we'll go with what we have. Not bothering to clean the living room until Thursday morning since I have a 2 year old here and cleaning 2 days ahead might as well be like cleaning last year for this year's holiday.
I decided to bake a couple pies tonight. Apple and Pecan. I'm not making my own crust. I've never tried it, and I just don't feel up to it this year. Maybe another time. But at least they will look homemade. I guess they still are, to a certain extent. But it's like brownies out of a box vs. homemade brownies. Better than store bought, right?
I have my first non-stress test today with the OB. I go weekly from here on out. Fun fun. While I'm not excited about going weekly, it will be a nice break from chasing Molly. Even if it isn't for my own enjoyment. I might still be able to get some reading in. And then maybe some errands afterward depending on what's going on.
Ok, well I think I'm going to load the dishwasher with the china while the Molly Monster is sleeping. She tried to run off with a bread plate this morning.

A quick blog before trying to catch a nap
Hello out there...hope you all are doing well in blog land. Things are going well here. Counting down the weeks...not quite days yet...although we are almost under 60 days? Is that possible?
Where were we when we last spoke. I believe I was discussing getting new appliances. Stove is here!!! And it's beautiful. I feel like such a big kid with a big kid stove. Molly is so cute, she says, "Mommy's stove. Hot." Guess you can tell who does most of the cooking in our house. Everything lately is defined by whose it is. Mommy's couch, Daddy's chair. Daddy's bed...what?? Fortunately I'm still allowed in it, but only on Mommy's side.
Dishwasher should be arriving tomorrow. Yay. Hmm...let's discuss more about this Customer Service issue. A friend of mine recently posted on another blog about her frustration in the lack of Customer Service. Add Sears to that list of places I am frustrated with. We planned to order the dishwasher and stove from them since we had heard good things about the Kenmore Dishwashers, as well as the ranges. Figured we would also take advantage of the discount when using the Sears credit card....So John and I went to Sears, picked out what we wanted but decided to wait until the weekend when there would be an additional discount. Salesperson told us, that's fine, just call and we'll take care of it! After being on the phone with them for 30 minutes to try to get a phone credit authorization I told them forget it and I would order it online. Felt bad for the sales lady not getting her commission, but I just didn't have the time. So in about 3 minutes I ordered online. Website said next available delivery for the stove would be in 2 days. Woohoo...start tearing out that stove top and call the electrician! So we did. Only to find out that the "website isn't always updated" and it's up to "delivery when they deliver." Um....what's the point of saying, next available delivery if that isn't really the day you can deliver to me? They scheduled delivery for both the stove and the washer for Nov. 21st, leaving me without a stove top or oven for over 10 days! I wasn't happy.
Fortunately, I did what I should have done to begin with. I called Marie at Gallo's Appliances in New Haven. LOVE HER!!!!! I tell her the situation, she says, "give me the product number for the Kenmore range and I will call back with a similar GE." 10 minutes later, she called. Placed the order. Had stove in LESS than 24 hours. Yay. Dishwasher wasn't in her inventory so she had to order it from the warehouse, so that will come tomorrow. Which is fine, I've lived without a decent dishwasher for a long time...I'm used to it. But I can't not cook for 10 days. That just doesn't work.
So the point? Go Local. Support your local businesses.
What else? Oh yeah, I had an ultrasound yesterday :). Everything looks good. Baby boy is growing, even if I'm not. The Endocrinologist actually seemed a little concern about my lack of weight gain (I actually lost 2 lbs last week.) But Baby Boy is 4 lbs 3 oz and is 66 percentile. I tried to tell her the baby was fine and I'm just losing it in my butt from chasing around a crazy child, but she seemed concerned.

Here are a couple other photos taken recently. John and Molly watching the fire on a chilly Sunday afternoon.

Molly's 2nd Birthday
Molly turned 2 on Halloween. She was so excited. We have been talking about it for so long and when she woke up in the morning and we told her that finally it was her birthday she said, Woohoo!!! And we sang to her and she was thrilled. We gave her two presents that morning, a Dora Sticker book and a Rocket from Little Einstein. Big hit. Good job Daddy :).
We had two costume parties with playgroups, one Thursday afternoon and another Friday morning at Chuck E Cheese. She refused to wear her costume and only wanted to wear her Halloween dress.

I didn't want to fight with her about it since wearing the costume for trick or treating was much more important. I was able to convince her that neighbors would be giving her treats and snacks, so there was very little fighting to get the bunny costume on. She had a blast, her and John made it all the way around the block. He had to carry her a little bit. We are definitely looking at getting a wagon for Christmas. With two kids it will definitely be necessary.

Saturday we had her party and she was beyond excited. She only napped for 45 minutes and when she woke up she said, "Party?" No not yet. When all of her favorite people started showing up she was very excited. The next day we asked her if she had fun at her party and she said, "Friends, jumping and running in circles!" Doesn't get much better than that.
So what else? Wow, Amy is 38 weeks. Yay!!! Any day now...and I am 29 weeks. Even more of a wow. I don't know where they went, and I don't know how I only have 11 (or less!) weeks left. So much to do and so little time. Good news is that John is starting to realize how close it really is. Hopefully we have the rooms set up with the big girl bed in Molly's room, crib moved to baby's room, Molly's new dresser purchased. Oh, and I think it looks like we are seriously going to remove the old stove top and put in a new one sooner rather than later. Going to Sears today to pick one out. Yay!!! So excited about having a new stove for Thanksgiving.
That's it from here....Happy November!

28 weeks
Welcome to the 3rd trimester! Things are going so fast. I can hardly believe I only have 12 weeks left...possibly less. And while it seems like it is going fast, my body is telling me to slow down and that this is going to be a long few weeks. I am in a lot of discomfort today, not sure why. I'm just sore, my belly hurts and so does my back. I feel like I grew three sizes overnight. I don't really think I'm having BH contractions...maybe a few here and there. The pain just is there all the time. I looked back on my blog to see how I felt at this point last time around and in one post I mentioned soreness late in the day...but nothing to complain about a lot I guess. So who knows.
Maybe I just need a good sleep tonight...I think I will head there soon. Looks like this will be a short post, but wanted to at least check in.

Ok fine. I'll update my blog!
But you know, just because you've asked me to do this...Molly will wake up from her nap any moment now :).
So where are we. 24+ weeks. Less than 16 left...yeah! That's the one good thing about gestational diabetes, I know I can't go late. But Molly was a week early, so let's hope this little guy follows suit. I actually had a dream he came before Christmas. Hmmmm. Of course it was more that I was freaked out that I had no Christmas outfit for him. Which is obviously the most important issue. I will actually be 36 weeks on December 21st, so it's not completely out of the possibility...and John would be happy about another tax deduction :).
No disclaimer needed anymore, I let it slip to Mary that a boy is on the way. Didn't take very long, and I did warn her that she would likely find out. But it happened when I was going for my Level II ultrasound and I told her that the doctor said he...I mean...forget it...he seemed to be on target for everything so we hopefully don't have anything to worry about. So she knows. Add another grandson to the list!
And guess who I hear now?
What else is going on....very very busy with the wine business. People just love to have wine tastings! I am excited about it. My goal was to have 14 between Sept. 20th and Thanksgiving, and I think I have 15 scheduled now...I'll be taking most of December and January off though. And then hopefully by the end of February I can get started again. I also had two people join my team in September so I became Senior Consultant...very excited about that. My next goal is team leader, 5 more recruits. Wish me luck! If you know of any wine lovers looking for an extra job, let me know!
Ok, let's upload a few pics and then I have to get the little girl...even though she won't let me get her out of bed right away.

DISCLAIMER
Pictures are from a recent trip to Lenny & Joe's. Molly is a big fan of Joe, and the frog.
Note: Please be aware that posts may include information regarding the gender of the baby. If you don't want to know, you may wish to stop reading now!!!
Just thought I would throw that out there :) since there are a few people who say they don't want to know. I would have a ticker up but can't figure out how to add one with this new template. Hopefully Amy can help me. I'm sure it's too easy, which is why I'm missing it.
So yes, we had our ultrasound on Tuesday and everything went well. We found out the gender and we are excited to have a little boy on the way! It was pretty easy to figure out. No hiding anything for our little guy. Yeah! I've started looking at some blue things, and have determined there are some pretty cute clothes for the boys. Just have to shop a little bit harder. Which isn't an easy task with the Mollster. She actually made herself puke today in Babies R Us because she didn't want to sit in the carriage. Oh well. We made it through.
It did however, make the task of taking away the pacifier a little bit tougher. After she puked, I gave in and gave it to her. I also gave it to her in the car and she was asleep in minutes. Yesterday we made it all day with no pacifier other than naps and bedtime. Little steps in the right direction.
What else is going on? I had my regular OB appointment today. That was good. Gained 6 pounds though, yikes. Only 9 total for the pregnancy though, so that's not so bad. Good news is that I don't have to take the 1 or 3 hour glucose test this time around!!! Yay!!! Bad news...I know I have GD already so the doctor says what's the point? I know in an earlier post I mentioned that I thought it was on its way back and it reared its ugly head over the weekend following an incident with a Ring Ding. I fessed up to the doctor, but still, no one should have blood sugar levels that high. I'm scheduled to see a different endocrinolgoist than last time since they couldn't fit me in until October. It's so ridiculous. People only have GD for a limited amount of time, you would think they would fit that into their schedule. Like pedicatricians leave a certain number of appointments available for newborns, because you don't really know when they are going to be born. But no...sure I'm early on in my pregnancy so wouldn't be such a big deal if I didn't see her for another 4 weeks but the same thing happend during my last pregnancy. If I remember correctly, they initially scheduled my first appointment for AFTER my due date. Thank goodness I have proactive doctors. I have an appointment on Wednesday, and possibly Thursday as well to see the diabetes specialist.
Alrighty then...I can't believe it is Friday already. I don't think we have plans. Just taking it easy. I think I might watch the weather to see what the deal is with this hurricane thing heading our way. I am working at a booth at the CT Women's Expo tomorrow for The Traveling Vineyard. Hopefully I get some good leads! Wish me luck!

Who loves Molly?
Molly is starting to get the idea of saying I love you, and also knowing who loves her. It's pretty cute. A few weeks ago when I would ask, does Mommy love you? I got the typical "no" but in a cute voice as if she knew the answer was really yes but an almost two year old is prohibited from using the Y word in the vocabulary.
Today I asked who loved Molly, and she said, "Mommy, Daddy, Michael, Thomas, Gramma, Papa, Grammy and Sissa (aunt Melissa.)"
When I asked who does Molly love, she said, "Mommy, Daddy, Daddy's Car and Di Di (her pacifier.)"

Catching up
I can't believe August is over already. This month has been, well fast. I've sort of been procrastinating on the posting because of everything that has been going on and it was hard to write about so I just didn't . But I know it's time to get back to blogging and back to things.
So the month started off pretty bad. As I think all of my readers know, John's dad passed away very suddenly and it was quite a shock to all of us. I was up at my wine convention at the time, it happened on a Friday night and I got the call when I came out of dinner. My mom immediately started driving up to get me, I know a little crazy but I really wanted to be home. I had driven two other wine consultants, and I didn't want to strand them in Boston and also didn't want to make the drive myself. Fortunately my cousin Dee was able to get me from Boston to Shrewsbury so that helped a lot. My mom got to my uncle's house at about 1 am and we were back in Hamden by about 3:30. After 3 hours of sleep I headed over to John's moms and we spent a good portion of the coming week there.
Everything went by so fast, and the support all of our friends and familly showed was amazing. Thanks to all of you for everything you did. I know that John and I , his mom and his brothers and sister really appreciate it.
Here are a few photos of Poppy from our recent Disney trip. One of the things I realized is there are never enough photos.

So what else is going on? As you can tell by my ticker I am now 20 weeks along. Movement has started which is pretty cool. Not a whole lot of movement yet, but it's there and I feel it at least once a day. Tuesday will be our big ultrasound and we are hoping to find out the gender, so keep your fingers crossed the Lil Bitty Schmitty #2 cooperates! If he/she is anything like his/her older sister, we won't be finding out.
Molly is almost 2. Do I need to say more? As Katherine says, she has one speed and it is "Run!" Her vocabulary is taking off more and more each day, stringing together multiple words and you can almost always figure out what she is saying or what she wants. Along with that comes tantrums because she knows what she wants, and can't always have it. Like cookies for breakfast. I am so mean.
We also went up to New Hampshire in August and had a great time. We lost some of our photos because our memory card died but do have a few and are hoping to get some more from my mom. Here are some highlights:

And finally, all 10 of the cousins at Ethan's christening last weekend:

Summer is half over already?
I can't believe how fast the summer is going by, which confirms my theory that this pregnancy will go by fast...I think I already discussed that. But when it was July 25, Christmas in July, the other day I realized, wow still 6 months until Christmas???? That seems really far away when I think of it that way. One day at a time, right?
So things are good here. Baby bump is definitely getting bigger. More pregnancy like. I've thought I felt a couple little flutters and even a kick but it seems early. So who knows. I like to think it is because I didn't get the doppler this time so I'm going crazy between doctor visits. It seems like such a long time to know that everything is ok in there. My next visit is August 7th. Only another week. I also think I'm going to start monitoring my blood sugar. The doctor told me there is a chance I won't have gestational diabetes again this time, but I highly doubt it. I took a test after dinner tonight and I was fine, but didn't really have a lot of carbs. It was actually a pretty decent meal for me. But I feel like in the late afternoons I'm starting to feel really sick, could just be the heat and pregnancy in general but I'm wondering if it's my blood sugar levels going wacky already. They say that GD shouldn't kick in until 24-26 weeks...but who knows.
We have been pretty busy, and seem to be having a good week. Molly was having some serious biting issues over the past couple weeks but I started putting her immediately into time out in her crib whenever she did it. I try not to use the crib as time out, but she generally won't stay in time out and runs away laughing at me. So into the crib she goes and I think she may finally get the idea that it isn't acceptable. I've also tried the "Mommy Likes Kisses" Theory so I get a lot of those now too.
On Thursday I leave for my wine convention in Boston for 3 nights...yikes! I'm really excited, but nervous and kind of sad to be leaving John and Molly for that long. John and I haven't been apart that long since I moved in here...crazy I know, but we've never had a reason to be apart for that long. They will have fun though and it will be a much needed break for me.
Here are a couple pictures John took of Molly at dinner tonight. She thinks she's so cute :). And another one below from a visit over at the Hannan's a while ago, but I never got around to posting it.

12 weeks, almost 1/3 done!
Trying to stay positive right? Actually, the timing of this pregnancy seems to make things go faster because it really doesn't seem like the fall and the holidays are that far away...I know they always come so much faster than expected.
I had my 12 week appointment yesterday and everything was great! I heard the heartbeat, although he wasn't able to find it at first and had to do an ultrasound (aww shucks :)!) I wasn't really that nervous though because I know 12 weeks can be early to hear the heartbeat, I think last time it wasn't until 14 weeks when I heard it. I also had a feeling he wasn't listening in the right area. Which was the case, he was listening too low. So I got a little sneak peak of the baby and it has grown so much already. At 8 weeks it was really just a little bean and now it really looks like a baby. Amazing. So I have another appointment at 16 weeks and then the big ultrasound at 20 weeks, which will be the first week of September I believe. And yes, we will be finding out the gender this time around. I'm excited to know this time.
Ok, so apparently Molly isn't sleeping anymore. I ventured out to the beach this morning which was lovely, but I really wish I had a child who would sit still for more 30 seconds. We get to the beach, set up. Molly plays in the sand for maybe a minute before she is heading back up the stairs. Up the stairs, over to the boats, back, oh wait more stairs...eat, eat at table. Fishies!!! Swing, slide, beach, stairs, more stairs. I'm one tired Mommy. And the worst is that she fell asleep as we got off the highway, which means she napped for 10 minutes and is now apparently done. I should just get her up and try again in an hour or two.
Yawn.

Summer is finally here?
The weather today was absolutely beautiful. I wish all days were like this. Not too hot, but plenty warm.
Things have been going well here. My belly appears to be expanding quickly, who knows maybe it's always been this big and I just have an excuse now :). But I don't feel like I can suck it in anymore. I guess that is a little bit of a difference. My legs have been hurting a bit. I didn't really have that happen until after 20 weeks last time, so that isn't much fun. I'm trying to do some exercises to see if that will help. I read that it might. I also think I might look into getting a pre-natal yoga dvd. I looked at Target the other day and couldn't even find exercise DVD's...but I was running out of time with the Molly girl so I didn't get to really search. I should just check ebay or amazon.
Molly is doing well. She is crazy. She learned how to climb/fall out of her bed. It happened for the first time yesterday. I was on the phone with my mom, Molly had just gone down for a nap. When the phone rang I heard her make a few noises but figured she would fall back to sleep. Next thing I heard was her shouting, Dee Dee (what she calls her pacifier) followed by a loud thud. Crying. I ran back there to find her sitting in middle of the floor saying owwww, deee deeee, oowwwww, dee deee.....she was fine, which is the most important thing. I knew it was only a matter of time the way she climbs EVERYTHING. I should have known yesterday would be a crazy day when I found her standing on the steering wheel of her princess ride on scooter trying to open the screen door to let Tigger inside.
So now we have to decide about a toddler bed....she hasn't really tried to get out again, yet. I think the fall scared her a little so it might be a deterrent for a few minutes.
I don't have another appointment until July 8th. Can't wait. After that I should be able to get a doppler. I feel tempted to get one now, but I know it's early. But I definitely am feeling better, other than the leg pains....it's just to be able to have the reassurance that everything is ok.

I might get around to pictures eventually
I will do a brief rundown on the rest of Disney. I can hardly believe we came back a month ago!
When we last met, I believe we were discussing Day 5. Spent the morning at the pool which was very relaxing.
Went in for an early nap and then headed over to Epcot. I really like Epcot, so much to do and so much to see. I feel like I have never really had a chance to go through everything, but that's why we keep going back right? We went to see Nemo and went on the new ride there, which was fun. Molly enjoyed it. Also loved the aquarium.
Stopped in for a snack at The Land and got our fast passes for Soarin, which is a really fun ride. We were able to go back to ride that after dinner at the Rose & Crown. I had hoped to get a reservation a little bit later so we would be able to watch the Illuminations from there, but it was all booked. An early dinner ended up working out well for us though, since Molly gets hungry and then we could wander around. After dinner we headed towards Germany and had a tasty glass of Kabinett, a fruity white wine similar to a Riesling. We also stopped at a little play area where Molly got to spin around on these things.

The evening hours seemed to go by relatively quickly and before we knew it, we were rushing to get on the Maelstrom and the ride at Mexico before the fireworks. What a great way to end the vacation!

Day 6: Headed over to Downtown Disney for some last minute souvenir shopping and then we were back on the Magical Express and headed home. We left Florida and it was a humid 90 degrees and got back to White Plains to a cold, rainy 45. Really pleasant. The plane ride was decent, other than Molly going to the bathroom twice, the second which was slightly explosive and we were going through turbulence and had a sleeping guy on the outside row which meant we couldn't get out to change it. Thankfully it was towards the end.
After a slightly longer ride home due to the rain, we were back in Hamden at about 8:30. Unpacked the car and I rushed off to Rite Aid. We had a wedding the next day and I had to know whether or not I could drink....
What a great way to end a vacation :). Came home, took a test and the baby is due January 18th :). 9 weeks as of today. We had the first ultrasound last week, saw the heartbeat and baby is measuring on target. So keeping fingers crossed that all continues to go well!

Day 3+
Alright, where was I?
Day 3: We are on our way to Hollywood Studios, formerly known as MGM.
This park doesn't have a ton of stuff for little ones, but this is where Playhouse Disney Live is and since Molly has been watching Little Einsteins since she was born and knows to go pat pat pat to make Rocket fly, we knew had to go. We weren't disappointed.
She was thrilled to see the mural of the characters including Mickey, Pooh, Handy Manny and Rocket and couldn't wait to go in but we had another 45 minutes until the next show so we headed over to the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. It was good, but a little on the scary side. I don't think they had to do quite as much with Ursula the Sea Witch, but I also think I read this show is on its way out as soon as Little Mermaid is out on Broadway. So I'm glad we went to see it. Mermaid ends and we rush across to Playhouse Disney and make it into the 10:30 show. Molly is thrilled to see Mickey and all the characters. She was dancing, clapping and having a great time. Next I went to get a fast pass for the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. John decided he didn't need to ride it and would stay with Molly. I love roller coasters and with the fast pass I was able to get right on after lunch. I also won another prize, some Mickey ears!

After the roller coaster, we went over to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground and Molly had a great time going up and down the stairs and once she found the little slide it was even better.
After spending some time there, we decided that we had seen most of what needed to see and were heading back to the hotel by 1 pm. Molly was able to take an almost 3 hour nap (I was able to sneak in a short one too) and then we were back at the pool. John went to the fitness center while we rested. There were only 3 other people in the fitness center and one of them was Nick Lachey! Yep...that was his big excitement of the week.
After naps and the Nick sighting, we went to dinner at the Turf Club, the restaurant at the hotel. The food was delicious. Service was a little slow but ok overall.
Back to the room and in bed early again.
Day 4: Time to see the Animals!
I love Animal Kingdom. When we went last time it far surpassed any of my expectations. The safari is great, and the rides are fun too. Molly seemed to enjoy herself as she kept shouting "Anmals!" Sounds a little similar to Elmo...but we realized she was saying animals, which made sense because we kept saying we're going to see the animals today.

A rare Jiminy Cricket sighting:

There were two things I didn't like about the Animal Kingdom. Since we were there last time, the Tusker House has turned into a sit down restaurant rather than counter service. So the whole pavilion area outside of the safari is not available for eating and there were limited options at the counter service places we found. Had I realized that Tusker House wasn't available anymore, I would have done more research. They do have some great fresh fruit options though, and Molly ate almost an entire apple.
The other thing that was tough was how crowded the park seemed. It was mostly in Africa and Asia, and I joked that they wanted us to know how crowded it was over there...but maybe there is some truth to it. Despite the crowds it was well worth it.
Went on the Kali River Rapids (got SOAKED!) and the new Everest Expedition ride, which was fabulous! So much fun. Could have gone on it again.
But it was time to head home and get ready to go to dinner. It was our night out alone, woohoo!
Grammy and Poppy went to dinner early at the Turf Club so we could head over to Wolfgang Puck Cafe. It was nice to get out and enjoy ourselves without Molly needing to be out of her highchair after 15 minutes. And the food was great too. I had the NY Strip with horseradish mashed potatoes, John had the red snapper with garlic mashed potatoes. As I mentioned in the other post, we were shocked that the prices were actually less than Fulton's. And quality was just as good if not better. At Fulton's my filet was more well done than medium. At Fulton's we got to eat outside, which was great. But Wolfgang's had a fantastic view too and if you are there when it's super hot, you might prefer the air conditioning.
After dinner we went over to Raglan Road for a pint and some Irish music and then wandered around before heading home. As my sister says, she could come on vacation with us to watch Molly because we would be home by the time she wanted to go out anyway.
Day 5: We started the day at the pool and were expecting a visit from my childhood friend Angela but unfortunately her daughter woke up with a fever and she wasn't able to visit. Hopefully next time we are down there it will work out.
Ohhh...time for Grey's Anatomy. Must take a break now.

Back from Disney!
We had a fabulous trip. It was so much fun, I'm glad we decided to go. Of course I have wanted to go back to Disney as soon as we left the last time. But Molly was definitely old enough to enjoy a lot of it and will only grow to love it more.
I'll try to do a recap, but can't guarantee it will be as thoughtful as Becky's vacation summaries.
Pre vacation: We actually left Saturday at 4 pm...wait turn around, we forgot the stroller! Leaving again at 4:07 pm .... on our way to the airport to drop off Grammy and Poppy and spend the night at my mom's house so we could see her before Mother's Day. We were flying out of White Plains which is a great airport. It is tiny, only 2 gates. Also only 10 minutes from my mother's house. We spend the night, don't have to get up super early and on the way home she watches the arrivals online and when we've landed they leave the house. By the time we get luggage, they are there.
Day 1: 5:15 am, wake up. Is it time to get up yet? Nope. Can't get back to sleep. I'm like a little kid on Christmas morning. 6:15 am, hear Molly upstairs. Mom gets her. Lay in bed for a while longer until they make their way downstairs. 6:30 am, into the shower. 7:05 am out the door. 8:20 am on the plane and on our way to Disney!
10:50 am arrive in Orlando, get passes for the Magical Express and we're on our way to Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. We stayed at Saratoga last time we stayed too. We were quite happy with it again. The rooms aren't quite as big as the two bedroom at Hilton Head, but you don't really spend a whole lot of time in the rooms while you are at Disney. Molly fell asleep on the bus ride to the resort and got about 45 minutes of rest so we immediately head to the pool. Molly has a blast in the Horse Fountain.

Once she's had enough, we head up to the room so we can shower for dinner and head to Fulton's Crab House for dinner. We wanted to go to a nice place for Mother's Day dinner and the food really was fantastic, but slightly overpriced for the portions you received. Got a better deal at Wolfgang Puck (see day 4).
After dinner we wander around Downtown Disney and into the World of Disney. I wish we had our video camera, but never would have expected the reaction when Molly saw it for the first time. We walked into the Princess section and we let out this big, "Oh NOOO!" It was the cutest thing and she continued saying that anytime she saw something she was excited about. We tried to get her to say Oh Wow, which she would repeat, but it was Oh No that would come out. Too cute. Next we were on to Ghirardelli for sundaes. Not the most organized place in the world. Need to go up the counter to remind them to make our sundae after people 10 numbers after us were getting their food. Tasted yummy though. Eat our sundaes and then wander more and find a carousel. Molly and I go for a ride. She was a little nervous about the horses so we opted for the chariot. She really is a princess.
Which by the way, all the cast members call all the little girls all the time. She giggled every time they said it. Ok, so finally we take the boat ride home to Saratoga and go to bed.
Day 2: It's Magic Kingdom time!
Fortunately Molly is still mostly scared of characters, so there is no waiting in lines for autographs or photos for us on this trip. Hopefully we'll get one more trip with out autographs...crossing fingers...Head straight for Space Mountain and walk right on since it is only 9:15 am. Woohoo. Grammy waits with Molly since she is unsure about getting in and out with the new knees. Convince Grammy that she can ride it, so her and Poppy go for another ride while we head towards Dumbo. First bit of advice, always get the fast pass. Always. Dumbo doesn't have one, but Winnie the Pooh does. We saw and said, should we? Nah...we'll go on Dumbo then Winnie the Pooh. The 10 minute wait at Dumbo is more like 25. I wait in line while John wanders around with Molly until the very end and she joins me in line. Weeeee!
By the time we get off Dumbo, the fast pass we should have gotten would have been good. Oh well, live and learn and get the fast pass and head towards It's a Small World. No wait, walk right on.
Perfect timing because we were big winners of the Dream Fast Pass! As part of the Year of a Million Dreams, they are giving our prizes each day and we won the fast pass which gave us a fast pass for all of the rides that have them. It was the best thing because it allowed us to ride way more than we would have. Head towards Peter Pan and then to Winnie the Pooh.
Speaking of Pooh, it's time for lunch at the Crystal Palace with Pooh and Friends. Super yummy food. I was full for hours. Molly loved seeing Pooh (which is what she calls all of the characters on Pooh) from a distance....

After lunch, I push Molly in the stroller until she falls asleep. Get to ride Pirates of the Caribbean with Capt. Jack Sparrow...and wow does he look like the real thing. Molly is still sleeping so we are off to Splash Mountain. Get soaked. I think Splash Mountain is actually my favorite ride at the Magic Kingdom. Get off, Molly was woken up by some screaming kid. But she's doing ok. Take turns with Grammy and Poppy to ride Big Thunder Mountain. Head to Pooh's Playground. Molly could have stayed there all day. Make one last stop at Minnie's house where Molly starts to turn into Destructo so we decide it's time to head home. Go to the pool for a bit, get some food from the Artist's Palette and eat in the room. Molly is in bed by 8 pm, and we aren't that far behind her. Couldn't even stay up to watch the finale of The Bachelor.
I think I will start a new post with Day 3 and beyond since this is long and I haven't even added the photos yet, which won't happen until after American Idol is over. Sorry.
